What Is Rotary?

We are neighbors, community leaders and global citizens uniting for the common good. With your help, we can accomplish even more. We are more than 1.2 million members in more than 200 countries serving humanity around the world.

With the help of , Rotary has reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. We are “this close” to eradicating polio, with only three endemic countries still remaining around the world, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.

We have identified specific causes to maximize our local and global impact. At the same time, we understand that each community has its own unique needs and concerns. Through contributions to The Rotary Foundation and global grants, clubs are able to focus on projects in the following six areas: Peace & Conflict Resolution, Disease Prevention & Treatment, Water & Sanitation, Maternal & Child Health, Basic Education & Literacy, and Community & Economic Development.
